Skill based Education is not a choice but a need of our country. There is huge gap in what the Industry demands and what our education system has been offering for years. The students, the young brigade of today are future of our country; must not only be trained technically but must be imparted employability skills. The transition of a student from a leaner, to a trainee, to a worker or an entrepreneur is a great challenge. The skill based education along with other employability skills like communication, presentation, team work and interpersonal skills, is definitely the need of the hour.

Our institution, KanyaMahaVidyalaya, has legacy of 135 years of women education and empowerment very well recognizes the need of skill-based job oriented education is relevant more than ever-before. In line with the initiatives of MHRD, Government of India, skill-based vocational courses are running under the umbrella of DDU Kaushal Kendra since the year 2015. We are the first institution under Guru Nanak Dev University and in our region to have introduced these courses. The unique feature of these courses is multiple entry/exit points. The students joining these courses can opt for exit level after 6 months, 1-year, 2 years or 3 years and earn Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma & Degree respectively. This is well-suited to many professionals in the workforce who can switch from job to academics and vice-versa as their job/time permits. Also there is added benefit for the students who not only earn a degree/diploma or Certificate but job-specific skill Certificates by the Sector skill councils as recognized by NSDC and MHRD, Govt. of India. We are running Bachelor of Vocation courses in Animation, Retail Management, Textile Design & Apparel Technology, Photography & Journalism, Management & Secretarial Practices, Nutrition Exercise & Health and Beauty & Wellness. Also we have Master of Vocation Courses in Animation & VFX, Retail Management and Textile Design and Apparel Technology.

We at DDU Kaushal Kendra are committed to train students as the industry demands. We have Memorandum of Understanding with all the Sector Skill councils and leading Industries related to courses we are running. The students here have Internships/Trainings as part of their curriculum and that too is designed with inputs from the experts in Academia, Industry and Sector Skill Councils. Students here get ample opportunities to interact with experts in their field through the workshops, Seminars, Internships/ Trainings, Industry/Field Visits, Placement Drive and Industry-Academia meets which form a regular feature and part of our Academic Calendar.
